The only problem with that I have seen is if the server at the IP address is down, it may not have an automatic failover configured that way somewhere in between the router and the time server.

These need to be switched off to prevent interference with the active DHCP/DNS server when the DD-WRT router is added to the network. Switch off the local DHCP server as well as DNSMasq.
